Why This Site Exists
South Lake Tahoe does not keep every people-related record in one system. The city clerk receives municipal public-records requests, while the El Dorado County Recorder-Clerk maintains deeds, liens, recorded maps, marriage records, and other official documents. The Superior Court of California, County of El Dorado provides court case access, and the Assessor maintains parcel and assessment information. Elections records are governed by California law, and vital records may involve county Public Health, the Recorder-Clerk, or the California Department of Public Health. This site brings the relevant search tools, contacts, and access limits into one practical reference.
What You Can Find
- Pages by record type: public records, voter registration records, and people directories
- Official custodians: the South Lake Tahoe City Clerk, El Dorado County Recorder-Clerk, county Assessor and Elections Department, Superior Court, and vital-records offices
- Search instructions: ways to use a court name index, follow a parcel-to-deed trail, and consult local or state historical directories
- Access boundaries: what the California Public Records Act opens, which records remain restricted, and where to request records that are not online
What We Cannot Provide
This is a privately operated reference site, not part of the City of South Lake Tahoe, El Dorado County, the State of California, any court, or any records custodian. Our role has firm limits:
- We cannot retrieve, certify, amend, or seal a record for you
- We cannot verify that a named person lives in South Lake Tahoe
- We cannot delete information from an official record or an outside database
- We do not offer legal advice or interpret a record for a specific matter
- We cannot promise that an office hour, fee, link, or search index is current at every moment
Only the office that keeps a record can verify, certify, or correct it. We are not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, and no information found through this site may be used for credit, employment, housing, insurance, or any other FCRA-regulated decision.
